Please tell us a little bit about yourself:

I have been a coffee lover for 15 years and thanks to coffee I met my wife in Colombia. We started a little business in Puebla, Mexico. We roast coffee from the best coffee plantations of the southern part of Mexico. The main idea is to share our passion for the coffee and our goal is for people to fall in love with this wonderful seed.

What are you excited to do while you are in Seoul?:

I want to do my best in the competition and of course I would love to taste the coffee in the different coffee shops in Seoul.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

2016 Champion – Mexico Barista Championship
2015 3rd Place – Mexico Barista Championship
2013 3rd Place – Mexico Barista Championship
2011 5th Place – Mexico Barista Championship

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WBC?:

Yes, to my wife and my son because they are my life. I would also like to thank my coach for many years, Blanca Bernal from Colombia, and Azahar Coffee. My great team in Mexico, Fabrizio Sención, Jorge Sotomayor, Enrique Lopez and to all the community of coffee in the whole of Mexico.

How do you see the coffee industry changing in the future?

I think we should focus more in the coffee producers in order to improve the quality of coffee seeds as well as the money can be distributed in the coffee fields.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?:

In Mexico with my family and drinking coffee.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

I love soccer and music.
