Please tell us a little bit about yourself:

I am Javad Akbari, I have been a barista for over 11 years. Specialty coffee has been my approach to my customers throughout my career. It has been a long road to being able to achieve what I have worked for, in my country. Grace is all I have at the end.

What are you excited to do while you are in Seoul?:

Feel the specialty atmosphere in Seoul.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

1st National Barista Competition 2015 – Disqualified
2nd National Barista Competition 2016 – 4th Place
3rd National Barista Competition 2017 – Champion

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WBC?:

My team done it all. Nima, Alexandru, Jamison, Mehran, Ghazal, Ali Bagherian, Farzad, Amirparsa, Amirhossein, Ali Yousefi. And all people that made it possible. Mohammad Khani & Shokooh Razi, and dear friend Safa Salehi.

How do you see the coffee industry changing in the future?:

My country is opening up hugely to specialty coffee. It an honour to present what my people and me believe in.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?:

Contributing more to specialty coffee. And probably joining a WCE event!

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

Soccer
