Please tell us a little bit about yourself:
My name is Yoshua, and I’m from Indonesia. This will be my 3rd time coming to WBC, and I am honored to be able to represent my country again this year in Seoul, Korea. Myself and my partners own a few different brands of specialty coffee stores in Indonesia : Common Grounds, ST. Ali, and Sensory Lab. I have been in the industry for almost 7 years now and it’s hard to slow down because of how exciting it is!
What are you excited to do while in Seoul?:
Eat great food, find great coffee, and meet great people!
Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:
World Barista Championship Dublin, Ireland 2016 – 15th Place, Round One
World Barista Championship Rimini, Italy 2014 – 31st Place, Round One
Indonesia Barista Championship 2017 – 1st Place
Indonesia Barista Championship 2016 – 1st Place
Indonesia Barista Championship 2014 – 1st Place
How do you see the coffee industry changing in the future?:
Information is becoming more and more transparent, and so are relationships. This will change things in the coffee industry in a more positive way, between baristas, roasters, and farmers, that we can develop the industry together.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?:
Still enjoying amazing coffees!
