Please tell us a little bit about yourself:

I’m an Australian born, who has adopted Berlin as her home for the past 7 years. I was drawn to Germany’s young coffee scene because of how little I knew about specialty here and it’s potential to become a coffee capital in Europe; which it now has. I saw it as the perfect opportunity to grow with a community and a city; educating customers, and educating myself on how and how not to communicate regarding specialty coffee. This has become a huge passion of mine. Opening the right dialogue, with the right language to better cater for a lasting fascination and understanding whilst backing it up with flavour. I’ve been fortunate to work for and with some of Berlin pioneers; The Barn, Five Elephant and Bonanza to name a few. Berlin is my coffee home. Always will be.

What are you excited to do while you are in Seoul?:

Kimchi and Karaoke

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

2016 German Barista Championship – 5th
2016 German AeroPress Championship – 1st
2016 World AeroPress Championship – who knows
2017 German Barista Championship – 1st

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WBC?:

I could write an essay naming names… but everyone of my amazing team at Henauer Coffee in Switzerland. Fransisco and Fransisco, everyone at Exclusive. My team of friends and talented coffee kids in Berlin at Bonanza, The Barn, Five Elephant, Kaffee Neun, Isla and many more. And naturally my partner and family for the never ending support and love.

How do you see the coffee industry changing in the future?:

We as a industry are moving towards a more automated workflow, in the name of consistency. Which is great for our palates and for our customers. I do hope that no matter how automatic our shops and roasters get, that the craft and connection with coffee doesn’t become to far removed. Ultimately I just want to do justice to the amazing people and work done at farm level, keeping them happy, healthy and prospering will leaded to a happier future in Specialty Coffee.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?:

Sharing all the knowledge I’ve learned making coffee for the past 13 years to peers and customers alike, in whatever form that may come in.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

Food is a huge part of my life, I cook a lot, eat out a lot, I just like trying new flavours and textures. I have an obsession with olives and olive oil. Also since moving to Berlin, beer has not surprisingly been a huge part of life, with amazing craft beer bars popping up all over the place it can be hard to get away from.
